The Summer I Became an Author

Every Kid Has a Story Worth Publishing.

More than a Workshop...

The Summer I Became an Author didn't start as a publishing program. It started as a room full of kids with stories stuck inside them and no idea how to get them out. Through storytelling workshops designed to bring clarity to their thoughts and confidence to their words, something unexpected happened — the kids didn't just want to tell their stories. They wanted to publish them. And just like that, a program took on a story of its own.

How It Works

The Summer I Became an Author is more than a workshop — it is an experience your child will never forget. Students ages 8–18 go through five sessions of creative writing and business workshops designed to strengthen their storytelling skills, build their confidence, and help them discover the power of their own voice. They walk away with an original story published in a real book they can share with family, friends, and their community.

Schools & Organizations

Are you a school, library, or organization looking to bring this experience to your students?

The Summer I Became an Author workshop is available for groups of students ages 8–18. Over five sessions, participants develop original stories, learn the business side of authorship, and walk away with their work published in a printed anthology. The program wraps with a community Book Launch Party where your students are celebrated as the published authors they have become.

This workshop is designed to support literacy goals, build student confidence, and deliver something your organization and your community can be proud of — a real book, written by your kids.
